A+I Wins Inaugural “Best of Practice” Award from The Architect’s Newspaper

New program celebrates firms excelling at all levels within the industry

Architecture Plus Information (A+I) is the recipient of a Best of Practice Award - Architect (Large), Northeast category. The program is organized by The Architect’s Newspaper with the ambition to “stake out an expansive meaning of excellence, one which takes into account inclusivity, social impact, sustainability, regionality, and technological innovation, in addition to formal and structural considerations.”

A jury of esteemed industry experts including Ann Yoachim (Director, Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design at Tulane School of Architecture), Pascale Sablan (Founder, Beyond the Built Environment and President-Elect of NOMA), and Katherine Darnstadt (Founder, Design Trust Chicago) joined writers and editors from The Architect’s Newspaper in making the final determination.

Darnstadt noted, “The firm’s portfolio of workplace interiors were exceptionally well detailed and cohesive. These spaces would be a wonderful place to work in both a collaborative environment or more physically distant as we are now. In addition, the firm has a record of gender and pay equity that exceeds industry standards and should be celebrated.”

2021 is shaping up to be a banner year for A+I, its 25th anniversary since being founded in 1996. Earlier this year, A+I took top prize in the Corporate Office category as part of the 2021 NYCxDesign Awards for the new headquarters for luxury fitness, lifestyle, and hospitality brand Equinox.

“I am beyond proud of the entire A+I team for achieving this recognition,” A+I CEO Kate Thatcher shared. “So much hard work has been done, not only for our clients, but also for and on ourselves. To have these efforts noticed and celebrated in this way feels amazing.”
